On Monday, September 12, 2016, Commonwealth Cares hosted its first Charity Golf Classic at Two Rivers Country Club in Williamsburg, VA. Over 70 people golfed on the picturesque par-72 beauty on a day filled with sunshine, golf, and laughter. The event raised over $50,000 for Commonwealth Cares – all in the name of assisted Commonwealth Senior Living associates during times of intense financial hardship. Challenges faced can range from major car repair to domestic violence; from IRS challenges to homelessness.

Testimonials from team members that have had their lives impacted by Commonwealth Cares:
“I just wanted to take the time to say thank you for your assistance. With the check I am able to get my car fixed. I am truly grateful for all of your help. I found out that I needed to get my ignition coil fixed and not the o2 sensor which was still under my extended warranty. I don’t think I would have been able to keep working at my community without the support, not without a car. May God bless you all and again I want to say Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Words cannot express how I feel. It is such an honor and a blessing to work for Commonwealth Senior Living.” – Jada M.
“About 7 months ago, my husband and I went through a very difficult time in our lives that caught us by surprise and has changed our lives. It has made us think more everyday as you never know what can happen. I was hit with emotions, financial burden and tons of stress while still trying to do my job at CSL. A co-worker sent me the application for Commonwealth Cares and I did hesitate due to pride, however I decided to fill it out. Without the help that I was given from Commonwealth Cares I would probably still be stressed out and still behind on my everyday bills. As we went from 2 incomes to 1 income for a few months and really struggled. Commonwealth Cares truly helped me and my family get through such a difficult time.” – Seasoned Associate
“I don’t know how to say this right, but I was facing the prospect of being homeless, stricken with cancer. I was behind and potentially having to face living at the community. My ED talked to Commonwealth Cares and was able to submit an application for me. They gave me funds that I used to get caught up. I was saving money but not fast enough and my health was starting to go downhill. I may not be alive without Commonwealth Cares and the support of my community. Commonwealth Cares is in my heart.” – Cherry E.
